THEME:
INCORPORATING THE INFLUENCES OF ARTIST CHARLES HINMAN
(Hinman exhibit opens – April 9th)
There was a time, not that long ago when
the cognoscenti of the art world didn't consider black & white photography
art! So hard to believe today, that some people don't even know it! Today
of course, fashion too holds a place in the greatest museums in the world. One
only has to look at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual Costume Exhibition
or for that matter Giorgio Armani's recent glorious tribute to his Collections
at the Guggenheim Museum in New York. Now clothing, even contemporary at that,
is considered art. Here we are, once again in South Florida on the cutting edge:
This whimsical exhibit from the showrooms and creative forces of DCOTA is News.
And Worthy!

BACKGROUND ON EXHIBITION
AND ITS CURATORS:
As the world keeps getting smaller apparently so does
it's artistic counter part: Nickie Siegel and Janet Ruffolo
are not only extremely talented and in-demand Interior
Designers on Call (DOC) right here at Designer Center
of
the Americas (DCOTA) but are also long-time active members
of The Boca Museum of Art. In October '03, DCOTA's
astoundingly creative thinker, as well as incredibly
generous and always socially conscious General Manager
Joan Kerns
Kauffman assigned David Ranofsky and Lyn Forster, two
of her highly creative marketing managers to come up
with
'something' wonderful that had to be unique, a first,
and as always
her requisite - it had to benefit those in need.
'Creative'
already had their artistic eye set on doing something
at the museum
in Boca. As the saying goes, to make a long story short,
Nickie & Janet made the necessary introductions, and
with extreme foresight, Boca Museum's Executive Director
George Bolge, decided what was originally first conceived
as a traditional 'Silent Auction' reception
for one night morphed it into the practically 2 month long
exhibition and instillation. Many
of the Top Class Designer Showrooms at DCOTA couldn't
sign on faster, immediately embracing the concept while
almost in unison proclaiming it "Fabulous!"
