2005 DCOTA RISING STAR AND DESIGN EXCELLENCE AWARD
WINNERS REVEALED DESIGN CENTER OF THE AMERICAS GALA PRESENTATION
Dania
Beach, FL: The recipients of the 2005 DCOTA Rising Star Awards and Design
Excellence Awards, sponsored by DCOTA, Architectural Digest, Las Olas
Magazine, Sheraton Hotel and others were announced during Night of the Stars
held April 30, 2005 at Design Center Of The Americas, DCOTA in Dania
Beach, Florida.
The evening marked the 5th annual Night of the Stars award gala celebrating the
exceptional creativity of Florida's design professionals coming together to
honor award-winning projects as well as the premiere
of the DCOTA Rising Star Awards.

The evening began with a gala cocktail reception
and red carpet VIP interviews
which were then screened for the audience before the awards ceremony began.
Special guest for the evening, nine-time
Tony award-winning actor
Tommy Tune exhibited his artwork and was accompanied to Night of the Stars by
his longtime friend Lucy Arnez, daughter of the late
comedienne Lucille Ball.
He was later presented with a special DCOTA
appreciation award by Joan
Kerns Kauffman, vice president
and general manager of DCOTA.
The
fashion editor, Rod Hagwood,
from the Sun Sentinel, as in years past, was
the unanimous choice as master of ceremonies
for his uncanny ability to keep the program moving with his special brand of
humor and good taste. James Danto, president of DCOTA,
personally addressed the assembled guests - in excess
of 500 - which included members of interior design
organizations, top interior designers, DCOTA showroom owners and managers, VIPs,
publishers, members of the media and others.
DCOTA's
Rising Star Awards judges included; Sherri Donghia, Charles Gandy, Dakota
Jackson, Valerie Moran, Ralph Pucci William Sofield, and Adam Tihany. After the
awards ceremony, guests enjoyed an elaborate dessert
buffet and dancing, while Mr. Tune graciously
personalized and signed his lithographs as gifts. Proceeds from ticket sales
will benefit the design organizations.
