2005 DCOTA RISING STAR AND DESIGN EXCELLENCE AWARD WINNERS REVEALED DESIGN CENTER OF THE AMERICAS GALA PRESENTATION

Dania Beach, FL: The recipients of the 2005 DCOTA Rising Star Awards and Design Excellence Awards, sponsored by DCOTA, Architectural Digest, Las Olas Magazine, Sheraton Hotel and others were announced during Night of the Stars held April 30, 2005 at Design Center Of The Americas, DCOTA in Dania Beach, Florida.

The evening marked the 5th annual Night of the Stars award gala celebrating the exceptional creativity of Florida's design professionals coming together to honor award-winning projects as well as the premiere of the DCOTA Rising Star Awards.

The evening began with a gala cocktail reception
and red carpet VIP interviews which were then screened for the audience before the awards ceremony began.

Special guest for the evening, nine-time Tony award-winning actor Tommy Tune exhibited his artwork and was accompanied to Night of the Stars by his longtime friend Lucy Arnez, daughter of the late comedienne Lucille Ball.

He was later presented with a special DCOTA appreciation award by Joan Kerns Kauffman, vice president and general manager of DCOTA.

Rod Hagwood, the fashion reporter from the Sun Sentinel and Gary LodgeThe fashion editor, Rod Hagwood, from the Sun Sentinel, as in years past, was the unanimous choice as master of ceremonies for his uncanny ability to keep the program moving with his special brand of humor and good taste. James Danto, president of DCOTA, personally addressed the assembled guests - in excess of 500 - which included members of interior design organizations, top interior designers, DCOTA showroom owners and managers, VIPs, publishers, members of the media and others.

After the awards ceremony, guests enjoyed an elaborate dessert buffet and dancing, while Mr. Tune graciously personalized and signed his lithographs as gifts. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the design organizations.
